Course Objective

1. To familiarize senior level undergraduate students with the basis and stages of Engineering Design (Conceptual, Embodiment and Detailed Design) emphasizing the importance of Materials and Process Selection. 2. To enable students to improve their understanding of Materials and Process Selection in Product Design by team homeworks on certain design topics. 3. To enable students to improve their understanding of Engineering Ethics by team discussions on certain ethics case studies.

Design process. Steps of design. Design tools. Designing again failure. Materials selection design. Process selection in design. Case studies in materials and process selection. Economic decision making in design. Engineering ethics and discussions.
