The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) is seeking applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. Exceptional candidates at higher ranks may also be considered. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a related discipline, and postdoctoral experience is strongly preferred.
The Department and the University provide strong research support with access to some of the most extensive and modern facilities on campus. The research areas of the Department are centered on three broad platforms of materials engineering, ceramic materials and production metallurgy.
We welcome applications from highly qualified candidates in all areas of materials science and engineering—both experimental and theoretical—with particular preference for candidates specializing in the following areas:
• Computational Materials Science and Engineering
• Mechanical Behavior of Materials
• Processing of Materials (e.g., Metal Forming)
• Ferrous Metallurgy (Extraction, Refinement, Green Steel Production)
• Nonferrous Metallurgy (Extraction, Recycling)
• Solidification and Casting
• Materials for Extreme Conditions
• Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing
The candidates should have a strong record of research accomplishments and publications, proven experience mentoring graduate students, and the ability to develop and lead innovative research and educational programs. Successful candidates will be expected to secure external funding and build a robust sponsored-research program, conduct independent, cutting-edge research in their field, and teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses.
