The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering of the Middle East Technical University (METU) invites applications for tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level; however, exceptional candidates at higher levels may also apply. Candidates are expected to have a PhD degree in a related discipline and preferably a postdoctoral experience.

 

The Department and the University provide strong research support with access to some of the most extensive and modern facilities on campus.

 

Highly qualified applicants having strong background on metallurgy, materials science and engineering will be considered by giving preference to the ones focused on the following areas:

  • Advanced Functional Materials and Energetic Material Technologies
  • Energy Storage
  • Micro-Nano-Opto Electronics
  • Biomaterials (biomedical equipment technologies)
  • Modelling and Simulation (computational materials science)

 

The candidates must possess a distinguished record of research accomplishments and publications, and a demonstrated ability to mentor graduate students and develop an innovative research and educational program. Successful candidates will be expected to attract external funding and build a strong sponsored-research programme, lead independent cutting edge research in his/her field, and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses.
